...to remember UCLA (38 min) Pays homage to Nzingha Camara and explores the way she has inspired the performers that surround her. This dance documentary focuses on the dance/theatre production of Ma Gba Gbe: Don’t Forget. Through interviews with Nzingha and the dancers, musicians, and choreographers that work with her, themes emerge dealing with race, tradition, diaspora, ancestors, sacred space, healing, and the relationship between dancer and drummer. The interviews are juxtaposed with visual images creating a narrative that reinterprets the original choreography and evokes the complexity of the relationship between performance, spirit, and memory.
